Participants in this course will be introduced to information essential to diagnose and respond to adult medical emergencies in oral healthcare settings. Special emphasis is placed on factors to be considered in risk-assessment, recognising medical emergencies that are immediately life-threatening and must be acted upon promptly (e.g., cardiac arrest); and those problems that, while not immediately life-threatening, require timely stabilisation (e.g., hypoglycaemia).
